New MSCC facility puts Eastern Arkansas front and center on sustainable energy

Federal, state and local officials gathered at Mid-South Community College on Friday, Aug. 24 to dedicate the Marion Berry Renewable Energy Center , establishing Eastern Arkansas as a leader in the quest for alternative fuels.

The $9 million Energy Center is named for former 1st District Congressman Marion Berry, who helped bring more than $50 million in federal funds to his district to fund education, workforce development and economic development.

Berry, who served in congress from 1997 to 2011, was honored in a special reception on Thursday, Aug. 23 at Southland Park.
