‘Blues Trail’ concert concert celebrates music heritage & offers community healing

A recent concert and photo exhibit celebrating the music legends of West Memphis shed light on the cityai??i??s role in the incubation of the electric blues and offered solace to a city grieving from the loss of two police officers.

The concert, ai???Blues Trail to Chicago,ai??? and exhibit, ai???Faces of the Blues,ai??? took place on the evening of May 20, the same day two second-generation officers, Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans, were shot and killed during a traffic stop.

The event focused on a handful of West Memphis-grown artists, including B.B. King, Howlinai??i?? Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Ike Turner, Albert King, Bobby ai???Blueai??? Bland, and others. West Memphis was a thriving performance venue during the 1940s, 50s and 60s, and significantly contributed to the history of blues music in the Delta Region.
